Roth Architects, Inc. is a unique residential architecture firm with offices in Chicago, Illinois. Founded in 2000 by its principal and president, Scott D. Roth, the firm brings a wealth of residential and light frame commercial architecture expertise to builders and developers of all sizes.

Under the leadership of Roth, the firm has capably transcended its geographic roots in New Jersey to serve Chicagoland clients on a diversity of projects, including custom home designs, active adult communities and clubhouses, multi-family housing, and single family and townhome communities in the region.

The firm’s versatility is a testament to the depth and scope of Roth’s expertise as a specialist in residential architecture of every flavor. Indeed, Roth’s impressive background spans nearly 20 years with mid-and large-sized architecture firms in the Philadelphia region, where he earned a reputation for hands-on design and close collaboration with builder/developer clients. It was Roth’s passion for roll-up-your-shirt-sleeves design that led him to start his own service-driven firm, where quality, not quantity, is the focus.

Roth’s philosophy of service is a personal statement on doing the best for each client: Liking what you do determines how well you do it. For Roth, this means finding the most talented professionals in the industry to solve clients’ most vexing problems — and everyday concerns.

Roth Architects is currently working on several projects in the Chicagoland area, including custom home designs on the North Shore; high-density multi-family housing in Lake Villa, Illinois; single family and town home communities in Batavia, Geneva and N. Aurora, Illinois; and an active adult community in Lake County.

Versatility is key to Roth’s success. “Residential architecture is a niche that requires a keen observation of how people live, as well as how they want to live,” he says.

Practicality and a sense of drama are not at all oppositional when thoughtfully combined in a good design. Like a fine artist with a vast color palette, Roth draws upon his experience and success in varied areas of residential architecture to develop designs that offer fresh solutions and inviting designs. No matter the size of the project, Roth creates a space that complements the lifestyle of homeowners, the function of the home itself, and the natural contours of the land.

“As I design, I always ask myself ‘Would I want to live here?’ If the answer is ‘yes,’ I know I’m on the right track,” he says.

Roth is a member of the American Institute of Architects, National Council of Architectural Registration Boards, National Association of Home Builders, and Home Builders Association of Greater Chicago. He is a native of New Jersey and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and is a graduate of Drexel University School of Architecture in Philadelphia.
